New kayak at Union Lake

We finally got out to Union to take our new  "Advanced Elements" kayak out of the bag.
Our place to go was Union Reservoir off the Spicer Res. road.
The forestry dept has been doing a lot of work on the campgrounds around both Union and Utica Res.
There are now numbered sites at the four campgrounds, and camping is only in marked spots. Before people were camping anywhere and just destroying the lake shore and the area in general.
We spent two nights and had a nice lighting/thunder show the second night. There were no ground strikes  that we noticed. So no fires in our area.

Elephant Lake is a nice walk through the forest and granite rocks, the trail ends at the small lake but you can also head into the Carson Iceberg Wilderness from the lake area.
We had the area mostly to ourselves only one other camper at Union.Just lots of nature and quiet.
This kayak comes in a storage bag 36"x19"x9". Just remove from bag and inflate.

The first time it took me about 10 minutes to set up.The break down is easy, just open the valves and when most of the air is out you reverse the pump and pump the rest of the air out.Pack it back into it's bag and that's it.Nice and simple.
Nice space for the two of us or can be a one person by moving the rear seat to the middle and taking out the front one.

This was our first experience with a kayak of any kind.We have been canoe people.
We kept the canoe to use as a car top boat and the kayak goes in the camper.Right rear under the small cabinet
Camp site #15 at Union.Nice view of the lake ,to watch the ducks, geese and
                           Osprey out on the lake.
The smoke from the Rim fire has just started to make it's way to us.Not much
                                  though
                                    Elephant Lake,nice clear skys there.

These seem to be the last of the wildflowers.Short season around these parts.
.                              We had a great two nights. Not lone enough but things to do elsewhere.
Hope to head up the coast after Labor Day and less people.
